She is connected to her own knowing in a powerful and graceful way. The Mother of Cups represents mastery of the emotional realm. Welcome to 2017! For many of us, this year will be a great test of our love, our power and our focus. External circumstances- be they social, political, economic or environmental – will be testing many of us who live in the USA as well as other countries that have hostile, bigoted or fearful leaders in power. How do we face this and maintain a spirit of love, compassion and empathy?
The Mother of Cups shows that we must tend to our own feelings. True power lies in being able to manage our emotions – but the Mother of Cups takes it a step further. She is not just interested in managing, she is powerful in her work of honoring, experiencing, holding, loving and being present to all feelings.
Feelings are clues. If we are not able to read the clues, we miss the opportunity to learn from our feelings. Commonly, we cover up our uncomfortable feelings with anger, righteousness, victim mentality and other addictions like TV, shopping, drugs, food, busyness etc. The Mother of Cups comes to show us that the most important thing we can do is love and honor our own sweet feelings – they have something to tell us!
We are all psychic. That is, we all get messages from our feelings. When we let our feelings speak, then we can find out our true needs. If we have the courage, we can actually try to find a way to get our needs met. The Mother of Cups will show the way. And it takes courage. This is Feminine Power in action. Courage to be true. Courage to be real. Courage to feel whatever comes through us, learn from it and let it guide us.
Turn towards your feelings, no matter what they are. Validate them. They deserve to be recognized and acknowledged. Of course I feel sad. Of course I feel afraid. Mother of Cups doesn’t just put affirmations on top of bad feelings, she listens. She honors. Then she asks- what do I need? I know this year that I need to gather regularly in ceremony with my people, I need to laugh a lot, I need to sing, dance and have time in nature. I need to eat healthy foods and take care of my body. I need to teach and learn and express my wild self! I need to continue to love sweetly, care deeply and be the creative rebel I was born to be!
I don’t need to focus on what I don’t want. That always feels like crap!
I’m going to focus on what I DO want. My feelings will show the way.
Enjoy this powerful song from Ayla Nereo. I will be joining her on retreat this weekend!
