“How would you know you weren’t being a phony? The trouble is you wouldn’t.”
― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye
We look for Justice outside ourselves. We want someone else to give us Justice. We want wrongs to be righted, debts to be payed, scores to be even. We imagine Justice means getting what we want, winning a court battle or someone “bad” getting punished. This is not what real Justice is.
Justice is essentially the law of Karma. It is the Alpha (beginning) and the Omega (ending). Whatever is initiated must also be completed. Whatever you are dealing with right now is the product of all the decisions you made until this point. Justice is the law of balance. It’s about truth, authenticity and clarity.
True Justice is internal. Injustices are first perpetrated on the self. How often do we fail to heed the truths within? Do you ever notice that you are being inauthentic (a phony) in order to protect yourself? How have we been treating the most vulnerable, tender parts of ourselves? With reverence or avoidance?
We are all intuitive. We are all potentially psychic. But we don’t want to hear this inner voice. We don’t want to know the truth, We ignore our gut feelings, our inner knowing. We pursue people and things with hope that if we can create a life that looks good on the outside, then it will feel good on the inside.
This is out of harmony with the law of nature. And it creates imbalance. At some point, your own delusions and self deceptions become intolerable… and here comes Justice…!
Justice says – it’s time to get real. For better or worse. And the kitty cats on this card speak to the shadow and light – both must be acknowledged! Cats also symbolize the independence and aloofness that justice often requires. This is not a time for getting spiraled in your victim story about who wronged you. This is a card that calls you to greater awareness, clarity and focus on what is really the highest truth for yourself.
The Justice card comes to say – all things will find their balance, and that process must be started within. How have you been clinging to illusions (being a phony) in order to maintain the status quo? What self deception have you engaged in for the sake of convenience or avoidance? Are you experiencing a discomfort that you cannot name? This may be the pain of outgrowing your own illusions (failing to be a successful phony!). Are you starting to see the illusions that you have based your life or your identity on? Are other people’s illusions becoming more apparent to you? Is it all starting to seem really, well… phony? Then you are on the right track!
This is not an easy task, to really become aware of your own illusions. It is only for hard core self reflection badasses willing to own their most unattractive, unacceptable, unique and weird selves!
Seek Justice, truth and authenticity inside yourself. Start telling the truth to yourself about your real motivations. Everything will always come back to balance. If there is actual justice in this world, it is actually a feeling of alignment and a rightness within yourself. Think positively about your struggles and stand for what is really true.
The Greek Goddess of Justice is Themis. One of her daughters is Natura – the Goddess of the Forest. This makes sense, as I always feel more balanced after spending time in nature. If you seek Justice – go to a forest!
