The first thing I notice about this gorgeous card is that this queen has a pair of the nicest horns I have ever seen on a woman!
Horny. It’s an interesting word, supposedly originally referring to the masculine genitalia in full bloom. As in “He’s got a horn!”. But also, I have always imagined that it also hinted at our association (in Western Christianized culture) between sexual desire and the devil. Being horny, is seen as somewhat naughty, slightly out of control. Slightly? Well it depends on how free we are to act on our sexual desires.
I don’t have to go into how our culture has demonized sex and sexual desire in blatantly hypocritical ways, while simultaneously usurping its power and harnessing it to sell just about anything from toothpaste to cars. What if being horny could be reclaimed? What if we could make it mean desire of anything – as in “I am horny for a better world!” or “I am horny for a debt free future!” or “I am horny for a vision quest!” This kind of horny is not fiery, it is watery, and earthy.
The Queen of Disks shows us the calming and powerful beauty of our desires. In her hands, she holds a glowing orb/disk, decorated with the sacred geometry symbols known as The Seed of Life – which represent fertility and creation. This symbolizes her wealth, and she holds it gracefully without focusing on it.
As she gazes on the barren land, she is dreaming of how she can fertilize it. She visions how she can restore the fertility and beauty of what lies before her.
Visioning our desired future is something that does not come easily for all of us. It is a lost art that can take time to develop. What do we want? What are we “horny” for? How does that desire feel in our body? How does fantasizing how we can fulfill that desire make us feel? There is strength in our desires.
I love her huge magic wand. These are big, powerful, intense and wonderful spells we are casting. We are not messing around. This wand requires full strength to be channeled through it as it zaps life into the lifeless, soul into the soulless, magic into the un-magic!
This powerful Queen is accompanied by her grey goat, representing the earthy Capricorn energy that it takes to manifest things in the earthly realm. Aside from waving our wands and dreaming of the future we desire, there is some real life effort we must put in to show the universe we are serious about what we desire. Capricorn is serious, ambitious, practical and willing to plod along till he reaches the top of the mountain.
This card says yes to the wise and productive sensuality that waits to be born in all of us.
